Freedom from Financial Captivity

“And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.”

Deliverance is not only conducted but it is also preached. There something that the captives need to hear that releases the power of God and translate to victory. We were given access to the blessing as far as redemption is concerned and this blessing translates to many things including freedom and deliverance from poverty. You can prosper and serve God with integrity.

DEFINITION

Prosper means to do well or excel. Prosperity has nothing to do with money in its purest definition. There are five levels of prosperity and God expects you to prosper in all of them:

  • Spiritual prosperity – The health of your spirit man. Your drive and passion towards God and the things of God.
  • Mental prosperity – Your mind properly developed and deployed.
  • Health and wellness – No matter how wealth you are in terms of finances, if something happens to your body, all of that will remain as nothing,
  • Financial prosperity
  • Relational prosperity.

Riches simply means abundant financial resources. . In ancient times they, didn’t use money and whatever they used in those days, if you had abundant of it you were believed to be rich.

Wealth is abundant financial resources and the systems that guarantees replenishing. For a wealth person, there is a way to perpetuate wealth.

Poverty is the absence of financial resources, knowledge and intelligence that guarantee productivity

Lack is insufficiency or inadequate resources to meet your needs especially when required. People in lack are not poor but there may be in lack of resources when needed at a particular time. Resources are supposed to be available when they are needed.

FACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR POVERTY

There are seven factors responsible for poverty and whoever lives with these factors at work in their lives, must be poor. Whoever gets free from these factors must be wealthy.

  1. A. Ignorance or incomplete knowledge of God’s financial system – Ignorance is dangerous and incomplete knowledge is the sponsor to imbalance. Having pieces of truth cannot be enough to produce the expected result. Luke 19:41-42, Jesus wept because of the ignorance of the people. He knew these people will continue to wallow in darkness.
  2. B. The absence of value that is needed and useful – You need to understand that the value you present should be needed and useful. You can be valuable but you need to know if the value you submit is needed and is useful. An intelligent problem analysis need to be done before you provide your value around those who are around you. Your value need to solve any direct problem that suit the context of your civilization. Matthew 25:24-27
  3. C. Lack of productivity and excellence – This even affects people that are valuable. Productivity is the ability to translate your value into products and services and served with excellence to a targeted consumer base. Daniel 5:12-14,17 – Daniel added excellence to his value. He was excellent in his interpretation which guaranteed him a greater opportunity than the gifts they wanted to give him. Sometimes excellence will demand rejecting certain temporary rewards to get other nobler and superior rewards. Compromise in quality is prevalent among the believers. Believers are not serious and lack excellence; dragging around everything. Believers need to be mentored to understand the value of excellence.
  4. D. Absence of strategic relationships – There are three things that can help you out of poverty; character, value and relationships. John 5:1-7, The man at the pool of Bethsaida had no man thus spent there 38 years. Relationships can enhance your fate. Even Jesus as a Man on earth needed men; different men played strategic roles in His life as a Man. All blessings come from God through men to men.

    Relationships are investments, you have to invest in them; people cannot just like you for nothing. Who hates you does not matter but who loves you matters. The king liked Esther and immediately she became the queen. If the king had not loved Joseph, he would have remained in the prison. There are men who are gatekeepers and you can’t cast them away; you need favour with them to pass them Proverbs 16:7. There are men if they don’t like you even though you are spiritual, you will go to heaven but suffer on earth. Some of the greatest gifts and helpers will come in packages that will need your spirit man to help you discern.

    Men have a role to play in terms of your finances. Don’t expect people to pay attention to you if you have not communicated honour or value. Every man’s need is his point of contact. It is fraud to want returns from men yet you don’t invest in them. When you sow, be sure to harvest; time is the seed for intimacy. It is foolish to believe that in your all lifetime you will not need any man. Who in your life have you invested so much in them that you cannot suffer while they are alive? There is someone that can speak for you everywhere and you need discernment to know them, and humility to invest in their lives.
  5. E. Bankruptcy of spiritual empowerment – There is a spiritual dimension to genuine lasting spiritual wealth; it is called the power to prosper. Deuteronomy 8:28. God can give men the power to prosper which is the anointing that attracts opportunities, men, favour and relationships to help you financially. Many have rejected that grace thus they are walking in poverty.
  6. F. Impatience – Proverbs 13:11 - People want to become rich fast. God gives speed but He does not rush men. God can help people but it is after they have gone through a training. It is the manifestation that is overnight but the training is not suddenly; it takes time. The pressure to get rich fast can be an addiction. There is the law of process, even Jesus went through the process. There is time when God gives you the grace to endure the process; He will not necessarily fast track the process. The lesson you learn on the journey is greater than what you obtain; infact it is what maintains what you obtain. If you get there by growth, you will know how to maintain the place. If you wear today’s and tomorrow’s clothes today, you will walk naked tomorrow. You can move gradually with galancy and make up your mind that when you leave a realm you have left it forever. It is rather you walk with Jesus patiently; process builds capacity and it requires patience.

    When people know that you are honest and serious they will support your growth but, when they know you are a liar they will do everything to make sure that you learn your lesson.
  7. G. Laziness – Proverbs 20:4 – Invest your day properly

KEYS TO BE FREE FROM FINANCIAL CAPTIVITY

  1. 1. A heart for God – 2nd chronicles 26:5
    There is nobody who neglects or ignores God, that will have prosperity that will be balanced and wholistic. You may have money but the many other gaps in your life that only the size of God can fill, will bring you back to an unfulfilled life. There are many people who have abundant financial resources but the kind of life they live is ugly, you will not want to live that life; they live in fear, falsehood and doubt. Proverbs 10:22, the blessing of the Lord maketh rich, and addeth no sorrow with it. By loving God, you will raise God wealth with integrity. Any wealth that makes you fill too big for God; is a pit you have dug for yourself. If Jesus, who is the King of kings left His throne to come on earth to die for man, there is nobody who should give flammy excuses to love and serve God.

    Wherever requires you leaving Jesus to obtain it, is a waste of time. What will it gain a man to lose his soul and gain the whole world, Mark 8:36. We reject precious things for mundane things and later realize we only had shadows. Believers have cheapened themselves so much due to money. Money is not everything; it is important but Jesus is everything. A generation that worships money is a generation that will destroy its civilization. Every bad leader was once a bad child. People don’t just become corrupt, they have been corrupt since and they have just graduated. It matters how the money comes; we need to have a conscious that love God. A heart for God has helped people out of financial captivity.
  2. 2. Mental transformation –
    If you are not transformed mentally, you will not be sustainable wealthy. Sustenance is a product of intelligence and transformation (mental strength). If an individual or an organisation cannot manage their resources, it means that there is bankruptcy of mental transformation. Mental transformation is obtained by buying the truth and use it. You will never rise financial above your mindset Philippians 2:5. The easiest part of wealth is becoming it, but retaining wealth is not luck Proverbs 11:16. To manage an entire wealth system, you need a transformed mind, which will require an outsourced intelligence.

    A mindset of gratitude and honour can bring you out of financial struggles. Your life will be enhanced and improved in a way that will surprise you. The goal of gratitude is to make the giver perceive you are grateful. It is your responsibility to invent every expression that makes the giver perceive that you are grateful; until yet the giver perceive that you are grateful, you have not yet communicated gratitude. Gratitude plants jealous in people to help you; their love for you become concretized by you communicating gratitude. Somebody who knows how to say thank you very well will keep on rising.
  3. 3. Productivity –
    Productive is the value that is packaged with excellence to a consumer target base. There is a rewarding system for dispensing value. Productivity is about getting to a point of competence and excellent. Brand your impact so that it is rewarded. Your impact must be branded to the point of those who need it, know you are there.
  4. 4. Strategic relationships –
    Pray for strategic relationships and work on your character to be friendly; Go and learn people’s skills. Yesterday’s excellent is today’s mediocrity; find out what it takes to attract, retain and improve upon valuable relationships.
  5. 5. The power to prosper –
    The power to prosper is the supernatural engracing that comes upon your spirit and mind granting you the ability to provide supernatural solutions. The assignment of the power to prosper is that it empowers your mind and spirit, consequently the quality of actions and decisions that you take that culminates to superior results. When you produce superior results, it attracts financial benefits alongside many other kinds of benefits. The power to prosper has a jurisdiction; when nothing happens natural again, you know you have the power to prosper. Things become supernatural.

    The assignment of the spirit of poverty is to study the extent of your ignorance and build systems around your ignorance that stops you from making financial progress. The spirit builds a stronghold upon your mind and destiny, making the word of God of non-effect to you. The spirit of poverty causes you to enter into debt and puts a system so that the money you borrowed is not used for the required purpose. The interest of the debt begins to accumulate rising your financial problems. Every time people got out of financial debt in the scriptures, it is the prophetic that bailed them out. The prophetic is mandated with the responsibility of rescue particularly from financial debt. The prophetic bailed out the woman who had been left in debt by her husband 2nd kings 4:7.

    God brings people out of debt through the power of land and its resources. The earth is the universal bail out system that God use to bring men out of financial problems. It is easy for a person to give you a piece of land instead of money. The moment you have abundance of resources, peace and time, you are truly wealthy.

    Money/financial resources have three assignments:
    • To live a comfortable life – You can’t live comfortable in poverty and poverty does not glorify God.
    • Kingdom advance – To supply financial resources as far as God’s kingdom program is concerned.
    • Empower you to a blessing to a dying world in a definite and practical way.
    Your prosperity is defined by the sum total of your understanding. Give your destiny a chance to be blessed. The kingdom works on a system and principles; you must learn them.

Prayer Points

  • Father, give me the grace to engage what I have learnt in my spirit.
  • By the blood of Jesus, I stop the spirit of poverty from attacking my life.
  • Father, let the power to get wealth rest upon me now.
