KNOWING GOD ACCURATELY
When it has to do with reigning upon the earth, the requirement is that you must become a graceful recipient of the gift of righteousness and abundance of grace. Romans 5:17 – The gift of righteousness only comes through Jesus Christ, believing in His substituary price. 2nd Peter 1:2 – Grace and peace is multiplied through knowledge of God and Jesus Christ. There is a connection between the abundance of grace and abundance of knowledge. There is an exact body of truth that translate to grace. The more you know God and His Son Jesus Christ, the more indeed and in experience you will access grace. John 17:3 – The activation of eternal life is dependent on the knowledge of God and Jesus whom He sent. Knowledge is essential as far as walking in dominion and victory is concerned. When you decide to dwell in ignorance, there is no hope for you walking in the reality of the life of God.
Matthew 16:13-18– Jesus is interested in knowing what men say He is and also what His disciples think He is. When it has to do with the subject of knowledge, you must be guided as a believer while on your journey to victory. John 16:12-13 – The things that were not taught by Jesus, were taught through Paul by the Spirit of God. However, knowledge is very important in this Kingdom. There are two levels of knowledge
a. Foundational Knowledge
b. Support Knowledge – They sponsor your stability in the presence of foundational knowledge
SIX FOUNDATIONAL KNOWLEDGE YOU NEED
i. Know God and Jesus, His Son. Proverbs 9:10 – At the point where you begin to pursue the knowledge of God, you are truly having spiritual understanding. Daniel 11:32 – People who know their God are strong and do exploits. Ephesians 1:15-19. Your confidence in life is predicated upon the God you know. If you know a weak God; you will produce a weak destiny.
ii. Know yourself in light of who Christ is – Psalm 49:20, 1stPeter 2:9, Ephesians 2:1-6. You need to understand the implication of our oneness with Christ, and your positional advantage on the account of the substituary sacrifice of Christ.
You learn Christ to know who you are or who you should be. We were created in His image and likeness. You don’t need to investigate who you are; the new man is a reflection of who Christ is. If you don’t know who you are in light of Jesus, get ready to live a frustrated life. Many people are suffering identity crisis because they don’t know who they are.
iii. Know your place in destiny and in God’s prophetic program– Your relevance is in your ability to keep and maintain your position. The provisions accorded your life are with respect to knowing your place. Luke 4:16-17, Hebrew 10:7.
Something happens to you once you know your purpose and place in destiny. Even if you don’t know what your destiny and purpose is, first know that you have a place in destiny and purpose Jeremiah 1:5. Then later find out your place in destiny and purpose, by walking with the Spirit of God. Many people live a frustrated life because they don’t know what their purpose and destiny is.
iv. Understand the mysteries and the principles of the kingdom – Job 38:33, Psalm 82:5, Matthew 13:11. The kingdom of God operates using a pattern/principle and every time you want to see the glory of God revealed, there is a mandate upon you to know the ways of God.
The life you have received in Christ is knowledge dependent and you need to know the mysteries allocated for an excelling life. Some of these mysteries are: law of encounters, relationships, honour, prayer, power of visions, law of faith, power of the words, law of restoration, speed, mercy of God and others. You can’t become great if you don’t know these mysteries.
v. Understand man as the highest of God’s creation and the cosmos – Psalm 8:1-6, 115:16 - You must know man because this is the world of men. Matthew 10:16 – Here Jesus taught them to understand the cosmos and how to relate with it. You have to understand men in all their dimensions. You will be a loser in life if you don’t understand how to work with men in this life. There are things if you don’t know about men, you will cycle failure and pain. Do not ignore men for there are many dimensions to them. Everything in life has value because men have placed value on it. It was the business of men that brought Jesus on earth; even in their degenerated state, God decided to work on them and bring them back.
vi. Know your adversary the devil – John 10:10, 1st Peter 5:8-9. Jesus revealed to us the operation of Satan and Paul came and structured the demonic kingdom. You have to understand the devil because of the destructive tendencies that comes with that spirit called Satan. Satan means a deceiver, manipulator, an accuser. Satan can kill everything that he can find in your life, for he is a thief who kills, destroys and steals John 10:10.
If you invest in exploring these dimensions of knowledge, it will be impossible for you to be a weak believer. Strength in the kingdom is a cumulative of your knowledge.
There are four channels to knowing God
A. Scripture - John 1:1-3 – The Word is God. The scripture reveals the character and methodologies of God.
B. Careful study of His names – The names of God reveal various dimensions of His power and mighty, Exodus 3:13-15, 6:1-3. The various names of God were manifestations of God’s power, wisdom and grace trapped in names. So anytime people wanted to learn about God in a certain dimension, they were referred to a name
C. Jesus Christ – Jesus came as a correction of our understanding about God. Prophets brought many perceptions of God which had a lot of mistakes because of their humanity. Thus whatever they said about God, can be tested from the life of Jesus. Jesus came as a revelation of the Father (an express image of the Father) John 1:1-6, Hebrew 1:1-3. He was the Word incarnate.
D. Experience –You can know God though experience Job 42:5, 1st John 1:1-5
Acts 17:16-17, 22-24 – There are many people today who worship and place their allegiance to an unknown God. These leads to a problem of convictions in light of negative situations. There are many people who are angry with God now because they were taught to believe in unknown God. Moses asked God Who He was; he didn’t want to go without verifying who was sending him. There is something about God if you know, fear dies immediately.
1st King 18:31-34 – Elijah knew the God he was serving and that’s why when he called upon Him, He came through fire. Your stability will be based on your connection to the God you know. The God you know is the God you will serve your generation with. Truly, those who know their God shall do exploit.
What to know about God?
God is infinite Isaiah 40:28 – From the start of your journey, you should know that the best of your exploration will not do justice to who God is. No matter how diligent you are, there is only a small portion of God that you will end up knowing, relative to the vastness of His person. That you will never arrive in this journey of searching of God.
There are three qualities of God that stand Him out above all men;
God is Omniscient-God is all knowing; He does not read to acquire knowledge. The knowledge of God is absolute, all things come from Him. 1st Corinthians 13:9 – Men know in part and prophesy in part.
God is omnipotent – All power belongs to Him. The dominion of men is shared dominion, always in partnership with the Holy Spirit and principles.
God is omnipresent – The ability to be everywhere at the same time. Psalms 139:7-8
For our profiting and dominion here on earth, they are three aspect of God we need to press to know.
1. His Character – Every of God’s character is multi-dimensional. Exodus 33:18-19. It is the character of God to give power to the faint and increases strength to those who have no might. Isaiah 40:28-30
You can use the character of a man to paint a picture of him. The character of God is very profound. Psalms 145:8-20 – God is compassion, gracious, slow to anger, good to all and of tender mercies over all His work. There is gain in loving God for He preserves them that love Him.
Psalms 103:1-22 – There are benefits of knowing God;
Forgiveness of all our iniquities
Heals all our diseases
Redeems our lives from destruction
Crowns us with lovingkindness and tender mercies
Satisfies our mouths with good things.
If these characters of God are true, they must reflect in the life of Jesus. If they are in the life of Jesus, then that validates that truly those are characters of God. When you truly know the character of God, you become confident in life. Hezekiah knew something about God and that’s why he bargained for more years. Your attitude will reflect the description of God that you have been taught. Fear will kill you for nothing except you know the character of God. When God starts a thing, He is able to finish (Alpha and Omega). 2nd Timothy 1:12 – God is able to keep that which He has been given. Everything that God builds endures. He is also the Lifter of men.
Proof that you have encountered His character is absence of fear and conformity to become like Jesus Christ in experience.
It is true that God destroys, but He destroys the following people:
• His enemies – People who disrupts His will. Before you invoke God’s judgement, verify first that you are not His enemy. You can be one of God’s enemies if you are not in His will or disrupting His will. Jonah was delaying God’s will, even though he was God’s friend. That’s how he found himself in the belly of a fish.
2. His ways – How God operates. Psalm 25:4-5. When you know how God acts, you will know how He does not act. If there is inaccuracy in your representation of God and His purposes, it may be derived from inaccurate understanding of how God works. God does not manipulate the will of men. He does not superimpose anything on men from the moment He said ‘Let there be dominion’. Genesis 1:28. God has bound Himself to respect the will of men. It is God’s desire that all men be saved and come to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, but He does not force men.
People must be given room under sufficient knowledge to make their choices. God challenges people, provoke them to be better but does not manipulate their will. Knowing the ways of God helps us to balance how to function. We function based on the knowledge of the ways of God. We must limit our operation to be consistent with the ways of God, editing our principles and practices to ensure that we are within the boundary of that which is consistent with how God acts. As a believer you must constrain yourself to live by the modus operandi of the kingdom.
3. His power – The zenith of our dominion is by knowing His Power Psalm 63:1-2, Matthew 22:29. The assignment of the power of God is to bring all things in alignment with the will of God. The power of God has no assignment outside the will of God. You walk in error and confusion when you don’t know God’s power and ways. The power of God also corrects the situations that are inconsistent with God’s will and to be aligned with God’s will. Ephesians 1:18-21 – There is no weakness for a believer who knows the power of God. There are infinite possibilities that can flow through the life of a believer. Acts 4:33, 1st Samuel:43-47
In being God’s witness, it’s good to know His power, ways and character. You can’t bear witness to a God that you have not seen or known His power. Before Moses went to Egypt, he first experienced God’s power. In bringing God’s people out of oppression, you need to understand His power. Power is the ability to cause change Psalm 66:3. We need power to change and bring people to God. It takes stamina, press and hunger for God’s power. Press until you tap into greater realms like Paul. He kept on pressing that He may know Him. If Paul knew God correctly, we can do it. We can reveal Him correctly to the nations.
The end time church is a church of power. Power against is the warrior dimension of a believer. Power to become is the engracing that makes you to become like Jesus in experience. Do not begin your faith adventure in this kingdom without sorting the revelation of spiritual power. There is power that can come on you as a business person, career person and scale you to higher heights and challenge people to come to God. It is only fire that can expose the viper within the woods.
Excellence is the proof of understanding God’s way. Dominion is established when you know His power. Power reminds men that there is God who seats in heaven.
Despite the vastness of God, He can be known in His character, ways and power.
